Matthew D. Koeniger
Matt Koeniger brings both professional expertise and a lifelong connection to the Knights of Columbus into his role as Field Agent and Financial Advisor. Serving the parishes of Most Holy Eucharist (St. Mary’s in Downs and St. Patrick Church of Merna), Historic St. Patrick in Bloomington, St. Mary’s in Bloomington, Holy Trinity, and the Newman Center at ISU, Matt is committed to helping Catholic families protect what matters most.
With nearly two decades of experience in personal finance, Matt began his financial services career in 2006 and expanded into insurance in 2024. In March of 2025, he answered the call to join the Knights of Columbus, bringing with him extensive licensure including Series 7, Series 65, and Series 66. His areas of focus include life insurance, annuities, retirement and legacy planning, and investment accounts—ensuring members have access to comprehensive, faith-aligned financial strategies.
For Matt, serving Catholic families is deeply personal. He grew up in the Order, recalling as a child in 1981 the moment he realized the Grand Knight and Santa Claus at a KofC Christmas party shared the same beard. That early experience sparked a lifelong bond with the Knights. Today, he feels privileged to combine his professional calling with the mission of an organization that has meant so much to him. The most meaningful part of his work is standing beside members in times of loss, lifting what burdens he can from grieving families. He also treasures the Knights’ dedication to service—especially support for individuals with intellectual disabilities and for those pursuing religious vocations.
An active member of Holy Trinity parish and a frequent attendee at Epiphany, Matt is a Fourth Degree Knight, an Honor Guard member, and a familiar face at Bloomington council events. Outside of his professional and parish commitments, Matt’s passion for history shines through his restoration of homes in Bloomington’s Wesleyan and Roosevelt historic districts. He’s also a proud Bison season ticket holder and enjoys taking part in the local community at Franklin Park concerts, the Sugar Creek Art Festival, Funk’s Grove, and Jazz Up Front.
